Monday, June 15th, 2020 – On June 14th, 2020 a wildfire was detected northeast of Prairie River, SK in the RM of Porcupine approximately 130 km southeast of Nipawin, SK and approximately 30 km west of Hudson Bay, SK.
As of 6:30 am Monday morning, the fire’s size is estimated to be 296 hectares, (approximately 731 acres). Cause of the fire has not been determined, according to information provided on the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment Wildfire Management interactive wildfire map.

As of Monday morning, there are currently only two active fires in the province of Saskatchewan. The second fire is located northeast of Prince Albert, SK and west of Wahpaton IR in the RM of Buckland. It’s estimated to be 44.4 hectares (approximately 110 acres) and is listed as “Contained” by Saskatchewan Wildfire Management. The 20PA-NISBET01 fire started Saturday June 13th and cause is listed as Human.
