Town of Nipawin – 2020 Unofficial Election Results

Nipawin, SK – November 8th, 2020 8:30 am – The Town of Nipawin has released the unofficial results for the 2020 municipal election.

Mayor-elect is Rennie Harper with 373 votes (39.81% of the votes cast). Mayoral candidate Brian Starkell received 316 votes (33.72% of the votes cast) and mayoral candidate Marlon Zacharias got 248 votes (26.47% of the votes cast).

Ten candidates vied for 6 councillor seats with unofficial results as follows;

  • Jan Boughen – 585 votes (62.43%) Councillor-elect
  • Sheldon Chornawka – 527 votes (56.24%) Councillor-elect
  • Bruce Pihowich – 533 votes (56.88%) Councillor-elect
  • Sheila Seiferling – 581 votes (62.01%) Councillor-elect
  • Geoff Stewart – 609 votes (64.99%) Councillor-elect
  • Stacey Vik – 791 votes (84.42%) Councillor-elect

  • John Dempster – 263 votes (28.07%)
  • Gene Rusk – 174 votes (18.57%)
  • Kerry Skowroski – 512 votes (54.64%)
  • Joyce Watts – 484 votes (51.65%)

The Town of Nipawin 2020 municipal election saw 937 voters cast their votes, 30.03% turnout of the estimated 3,120 eligible voters.

Twelve voters took advantage of the mail-in ballots, 21 voted through the special poll, 151 in the advance poll and the remaining 753 voters braved Monday’s snowstorm aftermath to get to the regular election day polls on Monday November 9th.
