Public Safety Announcement – SaskEnergy continues to work door-to-door in Melfort, Kinistino, St. Brieux and surrounding rural areas to restore natural gas service after a pipeline rupture early this morning caused a loss of service to approximately 4,500 customers.
SaskEnergy has made significant progress restoring individual services, relighting appliances and performing safety checks – this work will continue into Thursday until completed. SaskEnergy thanks customers for their patience as we work through the service restoration process.
In situations where homeowners are not present, SaskEnergy will work with local RCMP, using the services of a locksmith, to enter the premises in order to restore service and prevent potential damage caused by frozen pipes.
Customers are asked to call SaskEnergy at 1-888-700-0427 if they have lost service, or think they smell natural gas, emergency calls will be responded to 24/7.
The ruptured section of high pressure transmission pipeline between Weldon and Birch Hills, which caused the temporary pressure drop in the natural gas system in the area, has now been repaired.
