RCMP Investigate two suspicious deaths in James Smith Cree Nation

Saskatchewan RCMP March 21, 2019 3:40 pm – On March 21, 2019, shortly after 2:20 a.m., Melfort RCMP responded to a call for assistance outside of a residence in the community of James Smith Cree Nation, SK.

Upon police arrival, two individuals were confirmed deceased: a 19-year-old male and a 19-year-old female. Both are residents of the James Smith Cree Nation, SK.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit South are conducting the investigation with the assistance of Melfort RCMP and the Prince Albert Forensic Identification Section.

The incident is not considered a risk to public safety.

No further information can be released since the investigation is in the preliminary stage. Updates will be provided as they become available.
