RCMP Combined Traffic Services Section, November 22, 2018 – On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Combined Traffic Services Section (CTSS) members completing patrols near Sandy Bay and Pelican Narrows stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
During the traffic stop, members became aware that the two adult females in the vehicle were known to purchase alcohol, transport it to Pelican Narrows, and re-sell it at an inflated price. Bootleggers!
Further investigation revealed eight 66 oz bottles of whiskey and one 66 oz bottle of vodka (photo attached) in the vehicle, which were all seized by members.
Both adult females where charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act as per Section 138. They will be appearing in court in Pelican Narrows in a month’s time.
It is estimated that if the alcohol was re-sold in the community of Pelican Narrows that the profit would have been approximately $900, at least twice the original value of the purchase price.
