Esterhazy RCMP have confirmed that the SUV discovered in the bushes near Bangor, SK on October 22nd, 2018 was determined to be the vehicle being operated by 64-year-old Ruby Barnes at the time she was reported missing from the Carlyle area on June 18th.
At this point in the investigation, the identity of the remains located near the vehicle discovered on Oct 22 has not yet been confirmed. The forensic autopsy, including comparison of dental records and possibly DNA if required, must be completed before the remains can be identified.
The autopsy will be conducted on Friday by the Provincial Coroners Service.
Family has been notified and this investigation remains ongoing pending a positive identification. At this time, the death is not considered suspicious.

Original Press release, Esterhazy RCMP October 23rd, 2018– At approximately 1:00 p.m on October 22nd, Esterhazy RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle located in the bush on an isolated, rural property near Bangor, Sask.
Preliminary investigation determined that a single vehicle travelling on a remote, gravel road appears to have gone through a T-intersection and into dense bush and was not immediately visible from the road. The SUV had significant damage and a lone, deceased individual was located at the scene.
At this time, the identity and gender of the deceased have yet to be determined. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Friday, October 26th. This investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section (FIS), Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and Traffic Reconstruction. At this time, there is nothing to indicate that the death is suspicious in nature.
