Nipawin Fire Report for Monday, August 28 – Can’t wait until we get busy!!
Call #1 – 3:18 pm
Nipawin Fire responded to a crop fire 1 mile south of Nipawin on Hwy 35. Upon arrival, NFD discovered that the fire was contained to the harvested area of the field. Our farmer friend was fortunate to be straight-combining his crop and as a result, was able to assist the fire fighting efforts by combining the standing crop to make a temporary fire guard. This allowed NFD to contain the fire in the harvested area.
Thank you to our partners – Sask Power, Nipawin RCMP and our local farmer.
Call #2 – 7:34 pm
Four fire trucks and two RCMP vehicles responded to a report of a quad rollover just past the old bridge. The area was searched, but the rescue team was unable to locate the quad rollover.
Through constant communication with 911 Dispatch, the rescue team was advised that Dispatch was able to contact the operator of the quad and it was determined that the operator was safe.
Call #3 – 8:40 pm
Shortly after NFD arrived back at the hall after Call #2, they received a call to respond along with Nipawin RCMP to a Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) / deer on Hwy 55 just past the new bridge. Upon arrival, NFD discovered that the vehicle had collided with a large black bear and determined that there no injuries were sustained by the driver of the vehicle.
Nipawin Towing was able to safely remove the vehicle from the highway. Thank you to some bystanders for their assistance in moving the bear off the highway.
