Norma Thomas considers the EXTRA add-on lottery game a dollar well spent. The Nipawin resident paid $1 to add EXTRA to her WESTERN 649 ticket for the November 11 draw, and she won $100,000.
The lucky winner bought her $2 WESTERN 649 and EXTRA ticket from Domo Gas & C-Store, located at 808-9th Avenue West in Nipawin. She discovered her win a couple of days later when she stopped at a grocery store with her daughter.
While Thomas waited in the vehicle, her daughter checked the ticket inside. But she came right back out to get her mom.
“She said, ‘You need to come in; you won $100,000!’” Thomas remembered. “I was stunned. I didn’t think ordinary people like me won.”
The winning EXTRA number on November 11 was 6073546. Thomas’s selection exactly matched the last six digits, netting the game’s $100,000 second prize.
The winner said she plans to share some of her windfall with her family, along with making some home renovations. She’s also thinking of taking a trip to British Columbia.
Saskatchewan Lotteries is the fundraiser for more than 12,000 sport, culture, recreation and community groups.
