33 year old Danny Brian Crate has been sentenced to nearly five and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of Charles Frank Letendre in Nipawin, SK. He appeared at Nipawin Provincial Court on Wednesday March 14th by video link.
Crate had been remanded in custody for 425 days and received credit for 639 days, leaving approximately 3 years and 10 months to serve on the remainder of his sentence.
Danny Brian Crate was originally charged with 2nd degree murder less than two weeks after Letendre’s body was found in his bathtub in his home in Nipawin, on January 4th, 2017 by RCMP.
The cause of Letendre’s death was blunt force trauma to the head. On December 4th, 2017, Crate plead guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
As he left the court room, Crate apologized to the victims family.
