See Update: Village of Meath Park Announces Water Safe to Use
On Tuesday June 5th, 2018, the Water Security Agency issue a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (DO NOT USE NOTICE) to all residents and users of the Meath Park waterworks system. The Do Not Use notice was issued due to a possible contamination of the waterworks distribution system after a break in at the water treatment plant.
Water Security Agency and the Village of Meath Park are advising all consumers to NOT USE THE TAP WATER FOR ANY PURPOSES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
“It was discovered that the water treatment plant has been broken into. We cannot guarantee that the water is safe for consumption. Therefore the water security agency has ordered a do not use notice.” stated the Village of Meath Park in a Facebook post,”Please read the following notice. Do not use the water at all until further notice.”
“The water will not be considered safe to drink until all proper procedures have been followed to put the system back into service, including flushing of the system and bacteriological monitoring.” Water Security Agency Project Officer, Mahdi Kowsari stated in a notice to waterworks system users.
Water Security Agency recommends consumers should do the following;
Do Not Use Your Tap Water
The tap water may be contaminated with an unknown that is harmful by consumption, dermal or inhalation routes. Therefore the water should not be used under any circumstances.
Do Not Drink Your Tap Water – Only Use Bottled Water
Bottled water or other source of known good quality water should be used for drinking (including baby formula and juice), brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice and food preparation.
Do Not Try and Treat The Water Yourself
Boiling, freezing, adding chlorine or other disinfectants or letting the water stand will not make the water safe
Resident will be informed once tests indicate the water is safe for use again.
