Yesterday’s lightning sparked two fires near Highway 106 several kilometres south of the Narrow Hills Provincial Park and north of the junction of the Harding Road.
The larger of the two fires, 18LF-Harding, was estimated to be about 20 hectares in size as of 4:30 pm Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018. The second, much smaller fire, 18LF-Gull, is situated directly east of the Harding fire and last estimated to be only 0.1 hectares. Both fires are listed as Not Contained.
Local equipment contractors have been mobilized.
Highway 106 Closed
Saskatchewan Highway Hotline indicates that Highway 106 is currently closed from the junction of Hwy 55 to the junction of Hwy 120 due to reduced visibility from the smoke. Those wishing to access Creighton are being asked to use Hwy 120.

Candle Lake Area Fires
A small fire burning near Candle Lake started yesterday, Monday May 21st, was also ignited by lightning and is currently estimated to be 7 hectares in size. The 18LF-Candle fire is still listed as Not Contained.
West of Candle Lake and SK Highway 926 is another small fire that has been classed as Contained at 3 hectares. This fire, 18LF-Snow, is listed as Human Caused.
