Legion Lines for October 10th, 2017 by Verda Hoppe
Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends. It was a beautiful weekend and we have much to be thankful for. A special thanks to all those who serve who were not home with family as they are deployed throughout the world.
Thanks to all those who stepped up to work at Chase the Ace last week especially Lucas Wood and Bruce Vhal who led cooking crew. We could have handled more eaters but do have a good start for the money to buy bronze plaque to mark Pineo Point on Tobin Lake.
This Thursday Celia will be cooking up beef on a bun….and her great desserts!
This week the dart players begin their fall season Wednesday at 7:30pm in the lounge. New players are also welcome. Students are invited to youth darts which begins Thurs. at 4:00 pm in the lounge.
Thank you to Laurie and her girls for a very tasty Saturday supper. This Saturday the menu will include baked ham and scalloped potatoes. Everyone is welcome to join us at 6 pm in the lounge, $8 per person.
Membership chair Grant Hopley reminds everyone the new 2018 membership cards have arrived. Stop to pick up yours at the lounge. Our per capita costs have been increased so membership is now $55 per year. Still very reasonable as the Legion has multiple partners who give discounts with your Legion card. Snowbirds you need your card to access American Legion posts or branches in other parts of Canada…a perfect place to meet new friends on your travels!
Helen Hodgson is still looking for volunteers to do Saturday suppers and Pam Senger welcomes new bingo workers. More help means no one has to do multiple days in a month.
