Seasons greetings and Merry Christmas to those celebrating by the Julian Calendar. Hopefully everyone had a safe an enjoyable holiday season with family and friends. The Legion is returning to a more normal schedule. However there is no Saturday supper tonight. They will resume next week with Celia providing her usual delicious meal. Time will be 5 pm for the remainder of January.

All members are urged to attend the postponed December regular meeting this Monday, January 8th 2018, 7 pm in the meeting room. The executive will meet at 6 pm. The agenda will include the first round of nominations for the 2018 executive. The annual meeting and elections will be Saturday, January 27, 2018. Don’t forget to renew your membership to be able to vote. Dues of $55 may be dropped off at the lounge, mailed to Box 1324 or an etransfer may be done to nipawin.legion@sasktel.net.

The 2018 Legion sports schedule has been sent to Branches. The first event is curling and entries should be in to Sask Command by Friday, January. 12. For more details call the Legion lounge or stop in and check the information on the bulletin board in the lounge.

Weekly events at the Legion include bingo on Tuesday evening (jackpot is $1000 in 55 numbers this week) with doors open at 6:30 pm and bingo starting at 7:30 pm. Chair Pam Senger can always use volunteers if anyone can spare some time. Someone willing to call is especially needed.

Wednesday the lounge is busy with Kaiser and darts. New players are welcome for both…just come down by 7 pm to sign in. The same applies Friday evening when the crib players enjoy an evening of friendly competition.

Helen Hodgson is also looking for volunteers to help with Saturday suppers.
