Hopefully everyone is surviving the deep freeze and by the time you read this we are back to more normal temperatures.
The Legion sports calendar for 2018 has been released.
The curling deadline has passed although if you are interested contact the Sask Command office in Regina in case there is still an opening. There are no restrictions on team makeup anymore so a team can be made up of four players from any branch in the province. There is just a provincial bonspiel in Hazelet from Jan.26-28.
Cribbage Branch play is to be completed by Feb.1, zone by Feb.15 in Nipawin, district by Feb. 28. The provincial competition for the open and closed events is in Prince Albert from Mar.16-18 with winners from the closed event going on to Dominion play in Victoria, B.C. from Apr.27-30.
Darts competition is to have branch complete by Feb.1, zone by Feb.15, if necessary; district by Feb.28, if necessary. The provincials for open and closed events will be hosted by Moosomin, Mar.9-11 and winners in the closed event will represent Saskatchewan from May 4-7 in Mascouche, PQ.
Bowling for regular and senior events is to have branch complete by Mar.1, zone by Mar.16 and District by Mar.30. Nipawin will host provincials from Apr.14-16.
Estevan is to host the provincial 8-ball pool competition from Mar. 23-25 with entries direct to Sask Command. Estevan will also host the Dominion competition on May 24-27.
Finally golf will end with provincials hosted by the Filmore branch on Aug. 12 at Emerald Park golf course, Regina. District is to be held by June 30.
Sports chair Dave Propp will have sign up sheets at the lounge for the various sporting events. There are singles, doubles and teams for crib and darts. Sports are a great way to meet other Legionnaires!

Our Club 100 Lotto 2018 tickets are now on sale. Draws will begin on Mar.6 and no tickets will be sold after that date. Only 100 tickets available and previous ticket holders will be given first option on their ticket number. There are weekly draws (on Tues. at bingo) for prizes from $50-$1000. To reserve your ticket call the lounge at 306-862-4523 or private message Legion Facebook page or stop at the lounge during regular hours to purchase. If you are a snowbird email Nipawin.firstname.lastname@example.org. Also don’t forget to put your toonie in the envelope with your name and put in the box in the lounge for the monthly 50/50 draw.
Don’t forget the annual general meeting and election of the 2018 executive is set for Sat., Jan. 27 with supper at 5 pm and meeting at 7 pm. Further nominations will be received at that meeting and remember if the nominee is not at the meeting then a signed letter with their acceptance of nomination is required.
