Nipawin fire department responded to a field on fire along Highway 55 north of the Nipawin bridge.
The official cause of the fire has not been reported yet but the source appears to have started on the highway shoulder. Three different spots appeared to start however only the third caught and continued onto the field.
Fortunately for the farmer, they had just finished harvesting the wheat crop in that field.
The fire was put out and tractors disced a wide line around the burnt area to ensure any potential hotspots couldn’t spread.
