Saskatchewan groups and organizations are receiving more than $800,000 from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA)’s charitable gaming grant program. Of that, $33,024.53 is being given to Nipawin and area organizations for the three month period from July 1 to September 30, 2017.
Groups and organizations that raise funds through licensed charitable gaming such as licensed bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold em poker and Monte Carlo events receive a grant equal to 25 per cent of the net revenues generated through the gaming activity.
“The charitable gaming grant program provides a financial boost to community fundraising efforts across the province,” Minister responsible for SLGA Gene Makowsky said. “The work of charitable groups and organizations keeps our communities vibrant and, as a government, we are grateful for the difference these volunteers make in their communities and happy to lend a hand through this program.”

Arborfield – $ 910.63, Carrot River – $ 3,394.34, Choiceland – $ 1,628.47, Cumberland House – $ 8,889.50, Nipawin – $ 12,046.72, Smeaton – $ 695.87, Snowden – $ 137.25, and Zenon Park – $ 5,321.75
Among other grants provided by SLGA this quarter: Prince Albert and surrounding area received $111,076; Weyburn/Estevan and surrounding area: $55,869; Yorkton and surrounding area: $52,379; Moose Jaw and surrounding area: $50,970 and Swift Current and surrounding area: $29,480.
SLGA sends grant cheques to groups and organizations once they submit the required information associated with their gaming licence. The grant funds can be used by the groups and organizations to further the delivery of their programs and services.
