Cheri Turcotte won $250,000 on the December 22 LOTTO MAX and EXTRA draw, but she didn’t know it until four months later. The Arborfield resident’s winning ticket sat in her purse until she checked it in April.

Turcotte said she usually buys lottery tickets when she fuels up her vehicle, but she often forgets to check her older tickets.

“I had a bunch of tickets in my purse, so I decided to scan them on the WCLC Mobile App,” she said. “The last ticket I checked was the winner.”

The happy winner said she was shocked to see the prize amount on her phone’s screen.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Turcotte. “I probably scanned that ticket 20 times, and then I took it to the store and scanned it again just to be sure.”

Asked what she plans to do with her windfall, Turcotte said she has a couple of ideas to get her started.

“I’m going to pay off some bills and put some away, for sure,” she said. “I’m also thinking of taking a vacation with my family.”

Turcotte purchased her winning ticket at Lacroix Drug Unlimited, located at 1120 100th Street in Tisdale. The winning EXTRA number was 1861350.
