Update October 11, 2017 – 10:55 am
Nipawin RCMP responded to a call at approximately 1:30 pm on Tuesday October 10, 2017 when a semi hauling scrap metal had left the highway and had gone into the ditch. Nipawin Fire Department and Northeast EMS also responded to the scene.
While the incident is still under investigation, Nipawin RCMP stated it appears the semi came up behind a tractor pulling a disc and may have been travelling too fast to stop in time, causing the driver to leave the road to avoid a collision with the tractor.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Traffic had to be controlled until the scene was cleared. The scrap metal company sent out equipment to clean up the scrap metal that had spilled and a heavy duty wrecker was dispatched from Saskatoon to remove the truck from the ditch.
Traffic was restricted to single lane on Hwy 55 just east of Love, SK.
RCMP and Nipawin Fire Department are on the scene where a semi, has left the road and is laying on its side in the ditch.
No future information is available at this time. Update to follow.
