80 Year Old Bud Jardine Shoots Persistent Bear

(Last Updated On: October 3, 2017)

On Sunday, Bud Jardine came home in the early hours after combining to find a bear rummaging through his house. The bear had broken in while he was away and done considerable damage foraging for food. Bud, who just celebrated his 80th birthday last weekend, is no stranger to visiting bears at his home in the RM of Torch River north of Love, SK, but knew he needed help with this one since his guns were in the house with the bear.

Having poor cell phone signal at home, Bud drove down the road and made a call, arranging for a Conservation officer to assist him. When Bud returned, the bear appeared to be frightened by his headlights and left the home. Bud boarded up the broken windows, but a few hours later the bear returned and began pulling the boards off. Bud shot the bear just as he was coming through the window again.

Update to follow.
